Food For Thought

We must listen to our bodies! But sometimes, it’s unclear what our body is saying or what it needs.  We decided it’s time to take a dive into what foods to put into our bodies and how they can help (or harm) our ultimate Shine.

Here are 5 foods we can add to our diets to improve our Shine:

For Health: Green Smoothies!

Green smoothies are packed with nutrients and all things to nourish our bodies.  Fruits, vegetables, proteins and anything else you can pack into a blender are wonderful for treating your body and digestive system for a balanced breakfast or afternoon meal. Some of our favorite ingredients in a green smoothie include: peanut butter, frozen bananas, avocados, apples, spinach, chia seeds, flax seed, vanilla yogurt, coconut shavings and honey!

For Energy: Eggs & Nuts!

Protein comes in many different forms and getting your daily dose with eggs and nuts is a great way to keep your energy levels balanced while enjoying a tasty meal or snack.  Prepare your eggs scrambled, hard boiled or with a runny center and add your favorite hot sauce to get the day started right.  When it comes to afternoon snacks, introducing almonds and other nuts into your snack routine will have you feeling good for the entire day.

For Fun: Fruit Bouquets!

It’s springtime, so that means flowers are blooming and colors are vibrant around us so why not add this spunk to our plate too? Making your own fruit platter or bouquet is a fun and easy way to improve your diet and keep your plate full of color and deliciousness in the meantime.

For a Good Mood: Frozen Bananas & Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate is a delectable treat that doesn’t harm us when we eat it in moderation.  Too much of anything is no good so having a stash of dark chocolate around the house is a great way to curb your craving and indulge in a little chocolate goodness. Also, if you’ve never tried freezing bananas and blending them up to create a healthy ice cream alternative, talk about a game changer!

For a Fun Time: Homemade Popsicles!

Making your own popsicles at home this summer will diminish the mass amounts of sugar that come in the store-bought versions of the summertime treat.  All you need is a popsicle tray and a variety of toppings and goodies to put in the tray and stick it in the freezer to enjoy later.  Being prepared for a future sugar craving is why we recommend making these.  A healthy sweet treat, ready to go in your freezer.

Summertime Shine is a bit different from the rest of the year and we are here to help you Shine Bright by putting a focus on what is going into our bodies.  We hope you enjoyed these recommendations and would love to hear from you on what your favorite healthy snacks are in the summer.
